the governor and CM seem to been the leaders of the state and many people get confused of what their roles are. So in this post we will learn about the roles of the governor and Cm

 

Roles of a governor

The governor has lot of power and is essential for the government …

  1. head of executive
  2. can appoint CM according to the majority  in the state legislative assembly(Vidan Shaba)
  3. He appoints the ministers on the advice of the CM
  4. He can also choose another CM if the current CM looses power in the legislative assembly.
  5.  Any bill in the state government will not pass if the governor does not approve
  6. if president  dissolves the state assembly Governor has rights to take action

So by this list The governor seem really powerful but the government should select the right person who should have the powers. so the government has made some qualification for a person to be a governor.

  • Age should not be less 35 years old.
  • should be a citizen of India
  • should not be a member of the parliament or a member of state legislative assembly or state legislative council (he should come from the central government).
Roles Of CM

Accordingly the CM has unique powers from the governor…

  1. the governor appoints the ministers on the decisions of the CM.
  2. nobody can question the CM to why or why not he chose the Minister.
  3. power to allocate or change department of the ministers. Sometime he can remove the minister from the government itself
  4. should maintain relation with the central government
